Kung Fu Noodle House: Reviews & Ratings
The dim sum was very good, better than Shangri-La in West Bloomfield and way better than China Palace in Ypsi. The egg tarts and congee in particular were spectacular. However, the service could be a little better. We had one more item left on our order and we waited 15mins, but it never came. No one checked on us so I could ask about it. When we went up to the desk to pay (no one brought us a bill), I noticed that final item was crossed off, so I'm guessing they probably ran out (I was not charged for it), which is fine, but I wish someone would have notified/checked on us so we weren't sitting around waiting for something that wasn't going to come.
Might be ok Cantonese food but Szechuan is not the strong suit. Sounds like the Kung Fu noodle is from the previous owner, which explained why the spicy noodle is weak in spicy level, consider as 香辣 not 麻辣.
New management took over 2 months ago, this is now a dimsum restaurant. And they're really good! I've been to a few dimsum restaurants in Michigan and the food is usually luke warm when served but not this place! It is served from the cart but I love that it all comes out hot! They didnt have a menu when I was there, and not everyone there spoke English. Wasn't a problem for me as I knew what I wanted and if it wasn't on the cart, I was still able to have the cart lady placed an order with the kitchen. If you're unfamiliar with dimsum, try asking for the manager, he speaks English and could help you. Overall, their dimsum is really good! The har gao has fresh shrimp and was huge! The carrot cake was a favourite and even the braised pork ribs were perfect and not too oily. I can attest the flavour here is authentic! This place does get busy because everyone somehow knows how good it is, so try to come early!
Came here with my wife for lunch after the Detroit Auto Show. She had previously found this place on Instagram and they were open! (Detroit seems to have a problem with restaurants open on Monday). The interior is simple, but that's ok, I'd rather have simple than gaudy. We started off with Pork dumplings and the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings. Both were good, but the shrimp dumplings were fantastic! And they come in an adorable dim sum basket! For my entree I got the spicy beef dumpling soup. It comes out super hot so you might have to wait a bit just to comfortably eat it, but man, once I did, it was so good! Excellent flavor and spice level. Its the Goldilocks amount of spiciness, just right. And the dumplings? Delight! Did I say I like dumplings?
Came here for Sunday dim sum. Had a god experience. Service was prompt and polite. They had the carts running and you could order additional items from the menu. The chicken feet were not great; could have had more flavor and been much softer in texture. The others were good. The whole fish (made from live fish) was perfection . Beautifully seasoned. Done just right. I would come again.
They change the owner or something. Now they have Dim sum. About $5 a plate. They still serve regular Chinese food also with a different menu. Dim sum is pretty good, not greasy, not too much msg. Pretty standard. Good thing is that there is not a lot of people. Maybe because of the location, so you don't have to wait like other Dim sum restaurant in metro Detroit. They probably get it from the same supplier anyway. I doubt they make everything in house. They used to have one of the best noddles in Detroit. I will find out next time Good service, the servers are nice. Lets see how they keep up the quality after a couple more months
If you're familiar with dim sum or want to have an authentic experience, then this place is definitely the place to go! They start to get really busy on the weekend from noon to 1:30pm. It's not a big place; the bathrooms are clean. The food was good, not oily (however, certain type of dishes are meant to be oily), not heavily seasoned (you can use the soy sauce & chili oil on the table to adjust the flavor), very generous portion, and the carts go around frequently. I noticed they also have a physical menu to order family style dishes, but you'd definitely have to ask for it. The servers all speak English, though not fluent, so please be respectful and patient. If you speak mandarin or cantonese, then they definitely can respond alot faster. If you know what you like in dim sum, showing photos definitely help, so they can prepare it for you in the kitchen if they're not on the cart. I only took a star off because i wished there were more "sweet" options on the pastry cart, the table was kind of sticky, and it would be helpful to include a spoon with the utensils!
Came with 6 adults and 3 kids. Were able to to get a table no problem but after we got seated it started to get busier after Noon. Food was delicious and wait staff did come around on carts with the food but we were able to order specific dishes. Two complaints: wish the waiter came around to refill water which never happened. One of the boys busing the table kept taking dirty dishes over a baby which is a huge no no. Bus boy wasn’t aware of his actions but hopefully will be more cognizant in the future
